The big garden show in Toronto called Canada Blooms is like a spring life raft
at the end of our long Canadian winter.
Here is my favourite moment of discovery from the show.

Just beautiful. I love Poppies...they come in all different styles and colors! Happy first day of spring!
ReplyDeleteStunning! Your pictures are awesome, Jennifer! Have a great Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteyou take the best photos! Love the vibrant colour.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!!
Spring life raft hahaha Funny. Great shots!!! I love poppies. We planted some but sadly none came up.
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to Canada Blooms but it would use up all my vacation funds.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they would consider satellite shows across Canada. We have Home and Garden shows but the garden part is really just a token.
Sadly, I don't see Canada Blooms doing any regional expansion in the next few years Susan. The show is much smaller than it was pre-recession. When the economy improves, I think we may see other shows pop up around the country.
DeleteHOLY Cow is that gorgeous! The poppies in all of those bottles are simple and stunning! I'm fond of the aged bottles...hmmm I think I will have to look for some when I head to the flea market! Your photos are out of this world Jennifer!
ReplyDeleteThese are just gorgeous, Jennifer.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing quite like those yellow poppies.
They just feel like summer.
Przepiękne zdjęcia z makami . Jestem zachwycona. Dziekuję za odwiedziny. Pozdrawiam serdecznie.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of poppies. I am delighted. Thank you for visiting. Yours sincerely.
Ahhhhhhh....my favourite flower, the Californian poppy...exquisite!!! What a lovely sight to see them in the glass bottles.xxxxx
ReplyDeleteWow these are simply gorgeous. You captured their color and beauty perfectly...
ReplyDeleteJennifer - you truly are an artist (to see these gorgeous poppies the way you do) and an excellent photographer to be able to convey their beauty to us.
ReplyDeleteHope you had fun at Canada Blooms!
(Did you buy anything? I always end up getting more lily and dahlia bulbs)
Money is tight at the moment so I was more restrained with my purchases than I might have liked to have been. I did by some seeds ( assorted poppies among them!) and a cloche with a glass bird at the top from Kate's Garden.
DeleteI guess I picked the right color this year for my tulips, lots of orange this year.
ReplyDeleteEileen
Eileen, I think your color choice was definitely on-trend!
DeleteDivine.
ReplyDeleteI need some poppies in my garden! These are just glorious!
ReplyDeleteI just keep looking at your pictures! Sooo gorgeous!!!

I am so glad that the book arrived safe and sound. I hope you enjoy reading it. It is not quite -20 degrees here, but winter still has a firm grip on the garden.Hopefully the weather will warm in the next couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteI love Islandic poppies, I used to grow them in my garden but after a few years they stopped flowering so profusely so out they went...I have often thought about replacing them but never got around to do it, your photos made me decide to finally do it this year!
ReplyDeletedancing blooms so feestive very easterlike
ReplyDeleteYou have just made my day. I love poppies and what wonderful colours. Here we have loads of snow, and more coming.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful display of poppies and such beautiful colours, absolutely stunning! I feel much warmer just looking at all the wonderful shades of orange.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous poppies!! Like little rays of sunshine! Just what we need right now.
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I was at the show too and can't remember the poppies. Funny how that works - not everyone takes in the same things. Anyway fabulous photos of a really nice collection of poppies.
ReplyDeleteYou have said that SO perfectly: "like a spring life raft at the end of our long Canadian winter!" I love these photos, so soft, yet booming with colour. I really like the background effect you have on the last 3 photos, can I ask what you did to get it?
ReplyDeleteAll the pictures employ a similar technique, but are adjusted to suit each image. I superimpose a texture in Photoshop and use a soft bending mode to make the texture semi-transparent. Then I use the eraser tool with several brush styles and opacities to remove the texture in places. Textures tend to wash out an image. Some people like the soft, faded look, and sometimes I do too, but when the image is colorful, I like to adjust for the fading using Levels under "Image".
ReplyDeleteI'm normally not a big fan of orange, but these flowers are gorgeous! Of course, your photography is stunning as always, Jennifer. I attended the annual flower show in Chicago last week, and I agree--such shows are a welcome relief this time of year and help to preserve my sanity as I impatiently wait for spring to arrive.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Definitely a welcome break from winter. Just the dose of color I need!
ReplyDeleteKeri
Wonderful, Jennifer! Poppies in old bottles - great idea.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend!
Gorgeous photos, Jennifer! They sure are a welcome sight on another gloomy day. We were there fairly early in the morning, so we missed most of the big crowds. But they were over at the Home Show! Too busy there for my liking.
ReplyDeleteDebbie :)
oh what I would give for a spring show like that. How lucky to be able to visit and see all the sights. I particularly liked the diminuitive ferns gathering at the feet of the poppies.
ReplyDeleteWow, the photos are simply stunning and are just what I needed today. I'm growing pretty weary of the white stuff (and I don't mean a flower!) and cold temps. We still have a good foot of snow on the ground. Sounds like it was a wonderful show. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI know I do not have to tell you how beautiful these are.
