When words fail to express our deepest feelings of love, appreciation or sympathy,
flowers speak for us.
Today, in honour of Valentine's Day, I have a small giveaway.
With charming watercolor illustrations drawn from The Book of Memory by artist Fanny Robinson (1802-1872), this little book called The Romantic Language of Flowers is full of interesting facts, quotations and a dictionary of floral meanings.
Have a wonderful and romantic Valentine's Day!
P.S. To enter the draw for a copy of The Romantic Language of Flowers, please leave a comment below. I also ask entrants to make sure there is some kind of link available to their email address. I need to have a way to get hold of you should you be a winner.
I am still looking to contact Mary B., who won the copy of book The Layered Garden. Mary, if you are still out there, can you please drop me a note by email. I want to get the book off to you in the mail!
I will leave this draw open through the weekend and will announce a winner sometime next week.
Happy Valentine's Day, Jennifer!

ReplyDeleteI'd love to win this book - a perfect giveaway for Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs, and such a generous giveaway.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day, Jennifer!
I just wrote about "The Language of Flowers" for my weekly newspaper column this week! I'd love to win this book! Thank you for offering it! My email is ourlittleacre at gmail dot com.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful book! I have seen Kate Greenaway's copy of *The Language of Flowers*, but I have not seen a contemporary copy. Thank you for hosting the giveaway! I'd be tickled to win!
ReplyDeleteAs you may know Jennifer I adore the Language of Flowers and include it in many posts...such a wonderful history of flowers through their meaning...looks like a fabulous book that I would love to add to my collection....the hyacinths just blew me away as they are my favorite spring flower and I can't wait to see them soon. Thanks for this fabulous giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThis may well be the weekend when I pick up a pot of spring; you've made a good case for hyacinths with this post, Jennifer.
ReplyDeleteIf you're going to the Success with Gardening show at the International Centre - don't forget to call in for your media pass - and if you are going, perhaps we'll meet. I'm interested in seeing how our club does in the competitions and hope to get some photos of their entries. Have to do a little investigating to see about timing of things and how next week plays out. I remember a fellow GWA member telling us that the Language of Flowers was an excellent seller - she was an editor and publisher and was trying to divine what made it so very popular. Barbarapc
