What's worse than a Snowstorm?

What's worse than a snowstorm? A snowstorm followed by rain and then more snow.

Not that these guys are complaining!

A snowstorm struck overnight, and by dawn, it was pouring rain. The snow quickly became
saturated with water, and as heavy as rock.

The wooden handle of my snow shovel ended up snapping like a twig.

Then last night, it snowed yet again.

The boys are loving it though.

This isn't a great picture, but it says it all. That's the pack order from left to right.

Who would have guessed that my daughter-in-law's little guy would become top dog?

He may be small, but he is mighty... and a major troublemaker.

These two are best friends forever.

Although there still are the occasional territorial disputes.

Like this tug-of-war.

The boys send their regards, and respectfully want to know when I will be done on the computer.

It is a snow day after all!

  3. OMG...I absolutely LOVE this post!!!Your "boys" are just as cute as can be and they look like they are having such fun!! You should make a calendar with these pictures!! 4. Those are photos of pure joy! It was fun to see them. As for shoveling, someone knocked on my door yesterday and I happily hired him to take care of it. The light fluffy stuff is one thing, but it's nice to give a pass to the heavy, wet variety.

  5. Great to see your dogs enjoying the snow. I hope for you the snow will disappear in a while.
    Have a wonderful day Jennifer.

  6. HA! I love that first shot of them running and your little guy's ears! One up and one down!! So cute! We have had the same weather patterns here in Chicago. I'm trying not to complain too much because we could sure use the water from our drought last year. One of these days we will be outside..until then I will enjoy watching your troop and my beans playing in the snow!

  8. Z wielką przyjemnością oglądałam Twoje psy bawiące sie na śniegu. Kocham psy, więc to była dla mnie radość. Pozdrawiam.
It is with great pleasure watching your dogs playing in the snow. I love dogs, so it was a joy for me. Yours.

  9. Isn't it always the way? The smallest guy is always the toughest - probably because he has to be!! The sheer energy of the dogs having so much fun in the snow gave me a better appreciation of our Canadian winters. Great photos, Jennifer - thanks!

  11. OK, I'm going to love anything with dogs, so I loved this! Of course the little guy is top dog - he's a terrier, and all terriers think they are king. I know - I have one.

Smiled about Sarah's comment..terriers think they are king. That's true!!!

  13. Look how wet the dogs got in the snow!! It certainly has been an odd storm, but beautiful nevertheless.

  14. They are such beautiful dogs, jennifer, and they do not look bothered in the least, by the weather.

  16. What a great set of photos! Love that the little guy is leading the way. Wet snow is tricky, glad you don't have to drive anywhere. We've had a lot of melting here, expecting freezing rain tomorrow, makes for some slick conditions.

  17. What fun they are having. You've really managed to capture their joy :)

  18. We had a similar storm...messy snowy garden right now...and soon it will be flooding in the garden but I am ready for the big snow melt. I think your guys love snow as much as I did as a kid....too much fun to play in.

  20. It is lovely to watch them play like that, i guess they dont feel the cold. How i wish we can exchange some temperatures, so we will both live in moderation!

  24. That first photo is fantastic! Such delight on their faces! And when you talked about the pack order, I wondered about the little guy being in the front. Funny that he is top dog! They are certainly having fun. They don't mind if spring is delayed - they just enjoy the day, no matter the weather. Perhaps we should take a lesson from that!

  25. What a wonderful post, a total treat for me. I loved the dogs, their pleasure leaps out of the screen and tells the story so well. As far as they are concerned it is obviously a magical winter wonderland!
Dogs do love snow don't they, mine experienced it for the first time this year and went crazy in it!xxxxx

  26. Love it. Nothing quite like all the pups playing in the snow together. We always make sure to blow/shovel the snow in the yard into at least one pile so they can play puppy games on the snow hill. Good fun.

  27. What fun! Terriers have of the art of persuasion down to a science. How did you manage to get such great action shots of the dogs?

  28. So cute, Jen. Dogs and snow go paw in paw. My two northern breed dogs loved snow and would beg to go out and play each time the snow fell. Both were white as snow too, so finding them in a drift was not so easy.

  35. Ha, my parents' Cairn Terrier (and our Jack Russell) used to play with balls like that. The Cairn even flattened a basketball once! (She was a very gentle dog with big teeth for her size.)

Your guys look look like they are having so much fun! Obviously they don't think the weather is putting a damper on anything!

  36. That's a great example of happiness! Love it x

  37. Love the photos! Unfortunately, we have had more rain than snow; I'd much rather clean off wet paws than the muddy ones Sophie had the other day:)

  38. Love the dogs! Aren't they wonderful fun! I had 2 Collies as a child, both so sweet and lovable.
