Rain, rain don't go away...not just yet anyway!

Yesterday and today it rained. More rain is forecast for the early part of the weekend, but don't expect to hear any grumbling about miserable weekend weather from me. Just the opposite is true. I couldn't be happier! The garden needs the rain so desperately.

Balloon Flowers peaking through the front fence.

Frans Hals, a great late blooming daylily.

Mid-summer Tiger Lilies.

Not everything is pretty. This poor Viburnum is pretty beat up.

This is one watering can that won't get any use for at least a couple of days.

Phlox

As you can see, my Rose of Sharon is still pretty tiny.

This is my favourite flower in the garden at the moment. I promise to find the plant tag and post its proper plant name by GBBD.

My hydrangeas have rallied quite nicely.

Thanks for the Lavatera seeds Marguerite!

Carefree Beauty Rose

There is just one little fellow who is a bit depressed that he can't go out and play.

Cheer up little buddy, the sun will be back in a couple of days.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

  13. Hey Jennifer! That RAIN DANCE you and I did last week must have worked :) Everything is looking lush and gorgeous in your garden. And I'm heading out to pull weeds - should be a cinch with nice soft, rain-soaked soil. Have a fun weekend!

  15. No matter how much you water with a hose or can it doesn't beat proper ground-soaking rain.

  16. Hydrangeas, phloxes and that Frans Hals are also blooming in our garden. It's quite cold here in Finland right now, about 12 Celcius.

  17. Oh my goodness! That last picture of the doggies, one ear up, one ear down...so darn cute! We've been blessed with some welcome rain, too. Every day for a week we've had some. I would love to know what that frothy little blue plant is. I know I was on another blog recently and they had something similar and called it Rue. Not sure if it could be yours, too. What ever it is, it's a winner. I would love to have it, I hope it can take some shade!

    1. Joy, The littlest member of our doggie family is Mater and he is my daughter-in-laws dog. He is about a year old now. The upright ear on one side of Mater's head is from his Corgi genes and the flopped ear on the other side is from the Schnauzer side of his parentage. The bit in between is still a mystery.

  20. I have been doing the happy rain dance too - its been so hot and dry this summer! The frothy blue mystery plant looks to me like Nepeta Blue Cloud - I have ten of them in a border and adore the way they soften the edges...they also held up quite well during this summer's drought

  25. We share weather and opinion. I wish it would have stuck around longer. It was too light and too brief to do much here, but we did have the downpour too. Your images are lovely as always. Same with your garden.

  27. I'm so glad it rained!! We've had some rain, too. My rain barrels are full! Hooray! Love your long swath of rudbeckia. My front butterfly garden was inspired all those beautiful images of your front garden!!! I've already bought some of the salvia when I saw a good deal at a local store. I just hope mine is as beautiful as yours. :o)
