Favorite Summer Photos: A Rainbow of Colors

Stacked flower pots at Humber Nursery, Toronto

As we are now heading towards the end of the year, I thought I might do a weekly series of photo essays on the general theme of color which feature my favorite photographs of the past year. To start of the series, I am beginning with the theme "a rainbow of colors". So without further adieu, here we go:

Market flowers, Kingston Ontario

Wire cages, Humber Nursery, Toronto, Ontario

  1. So vibrant and beautiful, what a contrast to the sea of white outdoors at the moment! My favorite picture is that of your front garden, it's really amazing how much a white picket fence adds charm and enhances the colours of the blooms. Gorgeous! :)

  2. Oh, all the colours are so beautiful! I love looking at colour this time of year when everything seems so stark & gray to me! I especially love the photo of your front garden! It's always been a 'show stopper'; one that I've noticed during all my years in Brampton (before blogging)!

  4. What beautiful summer colors. I so love your front beds. I do not think I ever saw colored tomato cages before. I like that idea. I am going to enjoy your color postings.

  5. Dear Jennifer, What a fun and imaginative collection of images on the theme of 'rainbows'.The fruit baskets at the farmers' market look particularly appealing, if only all greengrocers looked like this.

  9. What a fantastic series of colors! While I love florals, the pots, tomato cages, watering cans and fruit photos captivated me the most here. I think they'd make great cards!
Your front garden is beautiful too.
btw, I highly recommend The Forgotten Garden ~ that book sucked me in so fast, it was really hard to put down! The best book I've read in a while ~ I hope you get a chance to read it too.

  12. As an "Essay in colour" your blogpost could hardly be beaten. Excellent! Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting on the chillis. Even if you don't like eating chillis, they are hugely decorative and come in a very wide range of colours, so you should find an excuse to include them in your garden...

  13. That made me smile! Lovely to have a burst of colour just when it is disappearing from the garden. I particularly love the shots of watering cans, plant supports and pots - they would make great greeting cards for gardeners, though I think I'd run a mile from anyone who actually used one of those plant supports...

  17. So much color... wonderful.... and I'm crazy about your Japanese maple... they've become one of my newest kicks and I've been purchasing a lot of them which is probably risky in this climate... time will tell! L

  18. Gorgeous! And I didn't know there was an L.M. Montgomery garden. Now I really want to go! That Humber Nursery looks like an excellent place to visit, too. Maybe if I ever get back up to Toronto...
