Whimsy and Storytelling in my Front Garden

Every day bus loads of kids pass my house on the way to the school up the street. The whimsical birds and birdhouses in my front garden are for them.

It is my fondest hope that they will look out that bus window and see something that sparks their imagination.

On the white picket fence, there are small chickadees collecting flowers in small woven baskets and a robin busies himself watering the flowers with a tiny red watering can.

And at the end of the day, my garden's story ends with the tired little birds returning to their red roofed house sitting in amongst the yellow and blue flowers.

  2. I hope those kids enjoy this as much as I did. The chickadee and others on the fence are adorable. Thanks for adding to Birdhouse Thursday - you may add the widget and the link to your posting if you wish.

  3. Dear Jennifer, I cannot, of course, account for the children on the school buses which pass by, but I love your front garden - so colourful, so imaginative and such fun. The birds on the fence are a delight and would make me smile each time I left the house. As for the bird house, so very elegant. Could I steal it for my own garden?

Thank you so much for the comment left on my recent posting and to which I have made reply. I am subscribing to your weblog so that I may not miss out on future postings.

  9. That pretty pink rose is a favorite of mine. It is a David Austin rose called "Mary Rose". I get all my roses from Pickering Nurseries. They ship their competitively priced, bare root roses in May and have a huge selection including rare and antique roses. http://www.pickeringnurseries.com/
