Pretty Front Garden, Glen Williams, Ontario

Located on the banks of the Credit River just north of Georgetown, Ontario, Glen Williams is a small, picturesque community that has grown up around the William's Mill.

The historic Williams mill was lovingly restored in the 1990's and is now a thriving visual arts center with a working studios for artists and craftspeople. The mill also has a glass studio and gallery shop.

The village of Glen Williams has many lovely homes including this one with its handsome front garden.

A flag stone path leads to an expansive front porch with lots of comfortable seating. Hanging baskets and two traditional urns packed with annuals add a color to the front entrance all summer long.

As well as hydrangea, the front garden has iris, bronze heuchera and pink geraniums. A pagoda dogwood stands tall at the corner of the flower bed.

When it finishes flowering, the dogwood has the added bonus of deep navy fruit on bright red stems.

The home owner's favorite corner of the garden is this quite retreat at the side of the house. Here two clipped boxwood planters and a white arbor perfectly frame a classical statue. Pea gravel was used to create small courtyard.

A planting of shade loving hosta and ferns encircle the courtyard.
