Buddy is looking so good for a dog of advanced years; you've taken very good care of him. The color contrast of the blue watering can and the foliage is striking, every photo is a gem.Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18368318730124533690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7116278351699614429.post-90907593371014582432016-11-05T17:49:25.562-07:002016-11-05T17:49:25.562-07:00Lovely post, the photos of the trees are glorious,...Lovely post, the photos of the trees are glorious, and the dogs are having such fun. The sun was shining on the dwarf Goat's Beard when I took the picture which adds to the glow, but the fine ferny foliage was, and still is, quite pretty. I love its golden color with splashes of yellow and pink. The large Goat's Beard is also quite wonderful right now. Again the leaves have touches of pink mixed with yellow and green. It blooms really late in the season and looks like a fluffy cloud. I have it tucked in behind an Agastache and next to a Miscanthus. It rests on both and might flop is it was not able to lean on the other two plants. Sad to say, I have no idea what the cultivar is. Sorry about that.
I do have another one with similar white flowers. It has interesting variegation on the foliage. It's Eupatorium altissimum 'Prairie Jewel'. It's not a big a clump though and the effect isn't quite as nice as the other. Perhaps that is because it is in a drier spot. These plants do like conditions to be on the moist side.
This year I added Eupatorium rugosum 'chocolate'. It is still really young, but I think I am going to come to like it too.
I have an abundance of potential seed. If you want to send me your address, I will send you some seed of the mystery Joe you admired. Most days Buddy sleeps and sleeps. I am always careful to through the ball away from traffic). We are also lucky enough to be five minutes away by car from a leash-free park.
